Common algae terms everyone should know!

Here are some terms you should know. This may help you from some embarrassing moments.

Phycology: The study of algae.

Phycologist: A person whose expertise is in algae. Not to be confused with Psychology.

Algae (plural) use this when talking about more than one kind or a group.

Alga (singular) used when we are talking about one species or a single cell.

Media is a set of nutrients added to water. Media is what we use to grow algae.

Nutrients are individual components in a media. Kinda like using veggies to make a soup.
