Description
Media: Chlorella Media
Notes on preferred growing conditions: Prefers highlight and agitation in solution. This strain uptakes nutrients quickly. Temperatures grown here are at 70- 75 degrees F but prefers warmer temperatures. This strain stops growing well between 55 – 60 degrees F and survives at 40 degrees F. Temperatures grown here are at 65- 75 degrees F but prefers warmer temperatures. We use a constant intensity of light at 2500 Lux with a periodicity of 12:12 hour light : dark cycle. Temperatures grown here are at 65- 75 degrees F but prefers cool temperatures.High starch producer. Good protein source. This is my favorite Chlorella to grow due to its molecular makeup and a very planktonic alga.
Origin: La Paz, BCS, Mexico from waste water
Isolator: J.-P. Hernandez (2003)
Other collections have this strain and it is known as UTEX 2805.
